It’s that time of year to get your outdoor faucets ready for the approaching low temperatures. Locate your outdoor faucets and disconnect any hoses that are attached. Leaving the hose hooked up and water remaining in the line will freeze when temperatures drop low enough. Freezing water in the hose causes it to expand and contract forcing water back in the pipes. This may cause the pipes to freeze and bust. Additionally locate your shut off valves to your outdoor faucets, turn them off and drain the line. This will clear out any standing water in the line from the valve to the faucet. This is an extra preventative step to stop any freezing that may occur.
