When out tonight with your little ones remember these few safety tips to have a fun and safe trick or treat.

When choosing a costume, make sure the costume is sized correctly.  Long trailing costumes can easily be tripped on and leave a child with injuries. If the costume has a mask, make sure the eye holes are large enough to see out of properly.

Provide children with flashlights or glow sticks to carry as part of their costume.

Keep all decorations away from open flames and other heat sources like light bulbs. Decorations such as cornstalks, and hay bales can catch fire easily.

Use a battery-operated candle or glow-stick in jack-o-lanterns or also safer that using a real candle. Should you use a real candle, be sure to place lit pumpkins far enough out of the way of trick-or-treaters and away from anything that can burn.
