Water backup occurs when the water from your home exceeds the capacity of removal systems to drain it. It can occur from rain or flood water seeping into foundation walls.  It can also occur when sewer systems overflowing and come up through drains in your home.
Preventing Water Backup

  • Maintain gutters and downspouts
  • Adjust your landscaping so that water flows away from the foundation
  • Run and clean your sump pump every few months, especially before the rainy season
  • Prevent backflow of sewer water by installing backflow valves
